Well, certainly none of the field guides show Shrike-tits on Eyre Peninsula - I checked Simpson, Slater, Morcombe, and Pizzey and my own records.
Dick Schodde ( p 466) shows Eastern Shrike-tit not on Eyre, and certainly not Western or Northern STs on pp 468-470. 
Still I guess anything's possible, they may yet find Bin Laden in Washington.
 How good are your friend's identification skills ?
