Can any of our historians out there help please ?
At least from 1951 to 1958 the Bird Observers Club ran a
"World Bird Day" during which people recorded counts of
every species they found.
Does anyone know if this was really a "world" Bird Day with
other countries doing the same thing ?
Incidentally "Bird Day" here was founded in 1909 along with
the Gould League and, I guess, Arbor Day. Both could have
had origins in the USA.
Also I see from the Internet that there is an "International
Migratory Bird Day" in May which started in 1993 (marked
only in the USA?). The NTT World Bird Count used to take
place in October from 1995 onwards but has now ceased ?
