We are planning to head north from Melbourne in the first 2 weeks of July. Had thought to visit far west NSW - Mutawingi, Kinchega etc but we have been advised that the area is still drought stricken and there's not much water or wildlife about. Is this right? So would it be better to go somewhere further east? The places that occur to me are Warrumbungles/Pilliga, Macquarie Marshes, Barraba district, or Capertee Valley. Can anyone advise on current conditions, birding opportunities, likely July weather, good camping or cabins? Thanks in anticipation!
