BIRD LIST FOR BYROCK VILLAGE & BYROCK ABORIGINAL RESERVE
2002-2003
Alan Morris
Byrock village is located on the Mitchell Highway between
Nyngan and Bourke, being 127 km NW of Nyngan and 79 km SE of Bourke. It has a
delightful pub that contains relics and information about the local people who
took part in World War I; it was once the junction for the railway line to
Brewarrina and contains interesting historical data about that feature; it has a
lovely camping area with plenty of birds; and is adjacent to the Byrock
Aboriginal site. The bird watching is good at Byrock and set out below is a list
of birds seen on three recent trips of 10 July 2002, 4 May and 10 May 2003.
