Hello John,

Interesting.

To me, "Ngang-Ngang" isn't obviously an onomatoepeic rendition of the Gang-gang's weird "creaky" call. Not like the aboriginal name "weelya", which is instantly recognizable as an imitation of the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo's cry.

But isn't that the way with vocalizations of bird calls? They're highly subjective, and what seems "spot on" to one observer sounds nothing like the call in question to another.
