Reid,

For Australian species get hold of an old copy of What Bird is That
(about up to the third eddition or so) it wil give the name of the
species name author and the date and will give you the meaning of the
scientific name. An oldy but a good one.

Hello list

Could anyone give me an indication as to where I might find out when
particular bird species were named, and by whom was the name assigned?

Many thanks

Ralph Reid
