Do ravens have a particular preference for different coloured golf ball?
Once while playing at the Seymour Golf course I hit a long straight drive (a
real rarity) over a rise but upon walking to where the ball should be, I
could find nothing. After much cursing and frustration and having to take a
dropped shot for what I'm sure landed in the middle of the fairway, I hit a
new ball, long and straight, only to see a raven fly down, pick it up and
fly away. This is the only time I've seen this happen and on both occasions
the balls were a fluorescent yellow in colour, not the traditional white.

On the subject of golf courses, the Seymour golf course and adjacent small
area of bushland is probably the best birding to be had in the area. In a
short visit in march in saw flocks of Diamond Firetails on the fairways, and
a small party of Speckled Warblers in scrub on the edge of the fairway.
There is also a lovely population of Grey Kangaroos that call the course
home, thought no doubt frustrate the green keepers.
