We live in Eastwood in Sydney's northern suburbs. This morning my husband called me to look at the bird feeder at which there was a male Satin bowerbird. This is the first time I have ever seen this bird here. When I got to work he called me to say he had just seen an Eastern spinebill feeding in a very small grevillea. The last time we saw this species was after the large bushfires (in 1994?) when Lane Cove River Park, not too far from us was badly burned. We have also had a ringneck parrot, obviously an escapee around for a few days. These certainly make a change from the usual noisy miners, common mynahs etc. -- Susan Knowles Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
