This morning I happily ticked the Northern Shoveler and also, just across the grass in the next pond,  the Oriental Pratincole x 2 (still where all the very accurate directions have pointed to).  On my other tick-list that is doing considerably better than my usual birding prowess,  I also ticked a birding-ausser who had travelled quite a considerable distance to see the OP.  It is always nice to put a face to a name.  
 
It has been a good day.
