G'day,
Well, it's about a month since I last reported anything, so I guess a quick
word is in order for any birders that may want to visit (re-visit) Bribie
Island for the Laughing Gull that seems to have taken up temporary
residency. It has been in evidence a fair amount of the time during the
past few weeks, along the beach between Scoopy's and the bridge, and on the
sandy spit adjacent to Buckley's Hole. One spot where I saw it a few days
ago was about one kilometre further south and east than I'd seen it before -
flying along the beach where the Red Beach track meets the ocean. So if
you're finding it elusive you may care to investigate in that direction.
Today, Friday, it was roosting adjacent to Buckley's Hole before flying off
in the direction of Red Beach.
I've been having a fishy time at Scoopy's recently. Their fish burgers are
almost a foot long and wonderful. And their salmon patties are exquisite,
especially when smothered with onions and mushrooms, and with chips and
baked beans on the side.
Cheers - Trevor.
