Peter,
Yes, I counted a flock of approx 80 White-faced heron roosting on  2 small mounds in the samphire mudflats before the Towra reserve (here on the southern shores of Botany Bay), last year on Jan 12.
Apparently they form companies esp. in Autumn.
By the way, there's one WF Heron which jumps up on BBQ picnic tables (with people seated) at Audley in the Royal NP, right next to the usual SC Cockatoos and Kookaburras.

Regards
Bruce Roubin

Today, in a paddock on Moolap Station Rd near Reedy Lake, i saw a flock of 70+ White Faced Herons.

This is the first time i've observed anything larger than a pair of White faced Herons, and found it most unusual.

Regards,

Peter

P.s. Reedy Lake is located about 10km east of Geelong, Victoria.
