I am no expert on hides but it would seem logical to me to have some
vertical slots to accommodate people of varying heights. No doubt there is
some good reason for this not to be done and I expect a barrage of replays.
I might take shelter behind a closed down computer for a few days!

Subject: Thanks for help on hides
Thank you to everyone who provided valuable info on
the hide question, including sharing their personal
experiences, all of which will be passed on. Speaking
as one of the vertically challenged, I have spent a
lot of time on tiptoe or hunched over trying to see
out of assorted hides. Staggered height ranges I have
found are good, although that depends on space
available.
Protection around the side to prevent the birds seeing
people coming is also handy, after an irritating
experience at Cota Donana where a bunch of school kids
decided to walk around the front instead and scatter
everything for miles.
Thanks once again
Debbie
