Yes, Joerg, they do. So you can believe your colleague.

Other parrots too. We have had Lorikeets - both Rainbow and
Scaly-breasted - feasting in a feral Sisal on our farm. This plant has
long broad spiked leaves and 6 metre high flowering stems. (It was
brought to Queensland in the 1800s hoping 'someone' would start a rope
manufacturing venture, but no one has, and they grow in the drier
country west of the Great Dividing Range.) The flowers are large and
apparently full of nectar. (But not for a few years now, as we have been
having drought for a long
time.)
