Hi All
Gayle McDonald has
requested any birding-aus members who may have kept records, with species
numbers if possible, for the Gresswell Grange Lakes, Gresswell
Forest or Gresswell Hill to forward the
information to:
Atlas of Victorian Wildlife
Attention Andrew Corrick
Email: as most of the records
are couple of years old. Any other wildlife seen should also be
included.
Gayle would particularly appreciate anyone who saw
the Garganey or any raptors to forward their sightings.
Request #2. Does anyone have GPS co-ordinates
for the lake/rotunda please?. White-throated Needletails put in an
appearance today and I would like to forward the sightings to Mike T. This would
also be helpful to people sending in their reports to the Wildlife atlas, so a
general posting may be in order.
No sign of the Little Bittern for a few weeks
now. Maybe they've just moved on or the deliberate destruction of the
limb, which they apparently regularly used, being chopped and thrown into
the reedbed opposite the rotunda would not have helped!
When I arrived late this afternoon, a ruckus was in
progress. Someone thought it would be a good idea to let their 3
large dogs romp around in the water near the above reedbed. When
approached by a local chap who tried to explain
the importance of the lake, and it was not appreciated/allowed for dogs to
disturb the wetlands, he was abused in some very blue language...
The chap arrived back at the rotunda rather shaken,
but the ignoramus had collected his dogs and moved on.
Happy birding
Marlene
