Saddam and the Southern Marshes

I suggest that the worst environmental crime of the past 100 years was the deliberate destruction of the marshes of Southern Iraq.  This was possibly the most important wintering site for Paleartic waterfowl.
The sooner the butcher of Baghdad is removed from power the better. I hope the US and others who will remove this monster and his regime will reconsitute the marshes.
