   Hi All.
At the risk of sounding obvious, the people plague is the root cause of
environmental destruction.
Believe it or not, at present, according to a recent article in "New
Scientist", only three countries are not controlling their population growth
( Iran, Saudi Arabia and one other I forget.) The slowdown in every other
country means that in about fifty years the world population will actually
start to diminish!
Whether the environment will survive that long is problematical, but at
least it gives a time-frame for long-term conservation.
Controlling the developers in the short term is the everyday name of the
game.
The plan to destroy Botany Bay with new shipping terminals is meeting
some resistance; someone is asking whether they are really necessary, and
what the would do to the beaches. Anyone know of the details?

                  Cheers
                      Michael
