G'day,
Having been absent for a few days, the Laughing Gull re-appeared at one of
its regular haunts on Bribie Island last Friday, the inimitable Bill
Moorhead having seen it at Buckley's Hole in the evening. Today, Monday, it
was again at Buckley's Hole at around 6.20pm. It seemed quite settled and
only scampered a few yards with the other gulls when a couple of ladies
strolled through the gathering. However, when one of these ladies hoisted
her dress abover her waist before wading across the channel, leaving nothing
to the imagination, it proved to be too much for the gull and it flew off in
the direction of Scoopy's.
Alas, Scoopy's was closed, but the gull only continued another hundred or so
yards (that's roughly a hundred metres) before settling with another group
of gulls immediately adjacent to the boat ramp. It remained there until
6.45pm when, unable to resist a Thai take-away, I left.
I've received several requests for information over the past week or so
including one from Adrian (Turnstone) Boyle. Adrian, if you're out there
reading this, please note that I've tried to reply three times but my emails
are being rejected as your 'remote SMTP server has rejected address'. Isn't
technology wonderful?
As the gull seems to have settled into an unpredictable pattern of still
being around but who knows precisely where and when, I won't make any
further postings unless either I receive too many requests for information
to handle easily otherwise, or something dramatic happens. Like me being
arrested for innocently 'scoping a mangrove bush.
