Following Edwin Vella's excellent report 19/1, we went out to Eastlakes Golf
Course, entered from Donaldson Street Pagewood (close to Kingsford Smith
Airport). The Yellow Wagtail was easily found this morning 23/1 at the first
pond directly in from Donaldson Street. We had great views of it flying
around and landing on the mud running around with Sharp-tailed Sandpipers,
flitting around islands of water plants and grass - it was still there when
we left about an hour later. Another exciting find was an A'asian (Brown)
Bittern which flew up from close to us and dropped behind a Casuarina (?)
close to the water and reeds on the other side of the pond (I believe
this is the Lakes Golf Course on that side). Judi & Neil Russill
