G'day all
I have recently completed my trip report from our
holiday to the Whitsunday Islands and the Atherton Tableland late last year. It
was a wonderful trip and I managed to clock up a total trip list of 259 species
within the 5 weeks.
Bird highlights included:
Lesser Sooty Owl - Juvenile at Kingfisher
Park
Golden Bowerbird - happened to chance upon a
beautiful male stealing from a bower at Mt Lewis
Atherton Scrubwren - Mt Lewis
Bower's Shrike-thrush - Kingfisher Park and Mt
Lewis
Chowchilla - Millaa Millaa Falls
Victoria's Riflebird - heard all over the place but
only seen at Lake Eacham
Bush-hen - one of the biggest surprises of the
trip, was seen behind the Caravan Park we were staying in at Airlie
Beach
Noisy Pitta - Whitsunday Island and in the Daintree
area
Little Kingfisher - Chris Dahlberg's famous River
Cruise
Papuan Frogmouth - Kingfisher Park and Chris
Dahlberg's Daintree River Cruise
If anyone would like more info on some of the
birding spots or the full trip report please feel free to contact
me.
