Ah Yes...they are indeed red-rumped parrots as Lawrie suggests!

For some reason i was convinced they were of the neophema variety.

For those in the Geelong region, there is  about 40 odd RED-RUMPED PARROTS around Fyansford. They can generally be seen near the new bridge on the walking track at the Barwon-Moorabool Junction.

Another exciting sighting down at Fyansford was a crested shrike-tit near the walk bridge crossing the Moorabool River.

Try looking at Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus) - I think
you'll find that to be your bird.  There are Blue-wings around though,
so don't be discouraged!

OBPs actually feed mostly on a range of introduced pasture weeds on the
mainland as far as I can recall.  Down in Tassie they forage in
heathland and buttongrass sedgeland (rather than grasslands).  They seem
to be at least slightly flexible in terms of dietary intake.
