I went up to Northern Victoria on 30/31 December with a visitor, Peter
Gent, to look for these birds and found them all very easily in spite of
dust-storms and heavy rain. We found 2 Black and 2 Pied Honeyeaters in
the Eremophila along the railway-line south of the crossing at Moloko a
few kilometers west of the Terricks. There were still a few flowers on
the Eremophila.
Orange Chats were found in saltbush in the north-west of Hird swamp about 600 metres south of the main road. 3 Bitterns were seen flying as well. 2 Fork-tailed swifts were seen at Hird Swamp around 5 pm on 30 December.
