Dear B-A's especially Melbournites

Today while doing a spot of birding around Ruffey Lake in Doncaster (eastern suburbs of Melb) I was excited to see a single Freckled Duck roosting on a rock in the main lake area.  I observed and photographed it for about 20 mins and later observed it again near the bridge across the lake at the Boulevard Cr end of the lake.  It seems quite tame as it congregated with Chestnut Teal, Black Duck and Hardhead near the bridge where people feed the ducks.  It was still there this evening at 7.30

Also seen were Baillon's Crake, Rainbow, Little and Musk Lorikeets, Long-billed Corellas and Lt Grassbirds.  A total of about 30 species were seen for the afternoon.

Has there been any other reports of Freckled Ducks in this area or Melbourne this past year, apart from Carrum, Edithvale and Werribee????
