Keith and Lindsay have filled everyone in on the waterbird happenings around Cairns but here's a bit more. I cycled and walked up the Barron Gorge Road this morning and there were small parties of Hardheads all the way along the river - the largest group was 25. Most unusual to see any along this stretch of river. They easily outnumbered the Pacific Black Ducks. I have been seeing a few hardheads in the small creeks along Clifton Beach and Palm Cove beaches over the last couple of weeks - first time in 18 years I have recorded them there.
