No sign of Musk Lorikeets here in Bayside, SE Melbourne, although they usually arrive about the first week of December with hundreds around before long. Some of their favourite plants - the West Australian Flowering Gum (Corymbia - ex Eucalyptus - ficifolia) are in bloom so absence of nectar cannot(?) be the reason for the absence of these birds. Are they in unusual numbers somewhere else ? Or did the dry weather affect the orchadists crops north of the Divide so the birds had a bad breeding season...?
