Yesterday I had a stroll around the ponds on the Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus. Along the banks of one of the ponds, was a pair of Black-Fronted Plovers. Also in the same pond was a pair of Australasian Grebes, with about 4 young. Other notable birds was a Common Bronze Wing Pigeon and the distant call of a Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo. Can anyone tell me if both Black-fronted Plovers and Australasian Grebes are common in the Geelong area? Anyone wanting more precise details of the location of the pond, dont hesitate to email me.
