G'day all,

Spent a couple of hours late this afternoon around the Samsonvale Cemetary area. The Painted Snipe are still in the area. Only two seen this afternoon roosting under an exposed snag. There were four yesterday afternoon so the other two could have been there hiden on the opposite side. Also great views of a single Bush-hen. All the usual waterbirds there. Pacific Black Duck,Grey Teal, Hardhead, Black Swan,Great Crested Grebe, Australasian Grebe, Pelican, Cormorants, White-faced Heron, Little Egret and Glossy Ibis. Also Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Marsh Sandpipers and Red-necked Stints. Brown Quail calling.

On the way home stopped on the southern outskirts of Dayboro in the middle of a Swift feeding frenzy. About 70-80 in a mixed flock of White-throated Needletails and Fork-tailed Swifts. About a 50-50 mix.

Cheers
Gavin
