The dry in New South Wales is certainly starting to bite and there are
some inland species moving eastward.
During a weekend banding session (30 Nov, 1,2 & 3 dec 2002) with Graham
Fry, Audrey Heuchmer and myself we caught the usual range of species at
Warraderry State Forest near Grenfell along with six Pied Honeyeaters
(two males three females and one first year bird) and two Black-eared
Cuckoos. Conditions are very dry although the stock watering tanks
still have plenty of water in them. There was a small amount of
flowering of the Grey Box E. microcarpa with scattered trees flowering.
There was no other species of Eucalypt flowering.
