With reference to Chris Ross' query re. Red-browed Finch at RNP.
They are quite common, Chris, and nest regularly at Wattle Forest.
Today we visited the southern end of the park, walking along Lady Carrington
Drive to Bola Creek. It is very dry but there are still pools of water
along the creek, and many birds are nesting, we watched Rufous Fantails,
and several juv. Estn. Yellow Robins were darting around. Black-faced
Monarchs were chasing Green Catbirds, harassing them until they moved
on! Some other birds sighted along this short walk were Yellow-throated,
White-browed and Large-billed Scrubwrens, Bassian Thrush, Grey
Shrike-thrush, Azure Kingfisher, Est.Whipbird, Brown Cuckoo-Doves,
Brown Gerygone, Brown Thornbill, Grey Fantail, Grey Butcherbird,
S.C. Cockatoo, Crimson Rosella, Variegated Wren and Satin
Bowerbirds. The White-necked Heron is still around Audley.
