Birdline Victoria Update No. 100 For the week ending: 24 November, 2002
The Yellow Wagtail was first seen and reported to Birdline on
Saturday, when its identity was not assured, however another trip on Sunday and
a review of his notes lead Ren Millson to confidently declare that the bird was
a Yellow Wagtail, a conclusion also reached by Ken Harris on Sunday.
The bird is quite flighty and nervous, flying into the reeds when
disturbed, however it is usually on the small exposed mud flat in the south-east
corner of the wetland. It can be accessed via a locked gate, with room on
Heatherton Road to pull over and is only about 50 metres from the gate.
