I was also out at the You Yangs on Saturday and witnessed the most magnificant views of the lightening storms as they came across the plains. The white-browed woodswallows are still on Sandy Creek Rd. With a few red-browed firetail's hopping around amongst them. Also, on Sandy Creek Rd, resounded the bizaar call of a Restless Flycatcher. Along with an echidna and koala sighting(not to mention the hundreds of kangaroos), it made for an amazing day. Regards, Peter
Some interesting sightings from this consistently rewarding site about 40 mins drive south-west of Melbourne: Saturday 2 November (39 species) Summer Visitors: Rainbow Bee-eater Sacred Kingfisher Olive-backed Oriole White-winged Triller Pallid Cuckoo Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoo Nomads: White-browed Woodswallow Residents: Diamond Firetail Brown Treecreeper Crested Shrike-tit White-winged Chough Purple-crowned Lorikeet Musk Lorikeet (? resident, ? visitor)
