ORGANISATION: Broome Bird Observatory
POSITION: Assistant Warden (commencing early Feb 03)
DESCRIPTION:
Broome Bird Observatory (BBO) is a not-for-profit organisation operating
under the auspices of Birds Australia. The Observatory was established as
a centre to promote the knowledge and conservation of the birds of Broome,
with particular focus on the migratory shorebirds and their habitat in and
around Roebuck Bay.
Assistant Wardens are required to carry out a broad range of duties
including conducting bird watching tours, assisting with research, liaising
with guests, shop and office duties, maintenance and cleaning. The ideal
applicant will be enthusiastic, have an interest in birds and their
habitat, be people oriented and be willing to work hard for a low paid but
very rewarding position. Experience or qualifications in the fields of
ecotourism or natural resource management would be an advantage.
Assistant Wardens positions are a fixed term contract commencing in
February and finishing in September with the possibility of extension
beyond this date.
