Tim,
This is probably not what you're looking for but I thought I'd mention it
anyway. About a year ago I bought a set of pocket size bioculars. At the
time I intended to use them as back-ups for my "proper" binoculars, but now
I use them all the time - havn't picked up the big ones since. They only
cost $40, but for my purposes they are ideal - looking through them there
seems to be no difference to both the bigger, more-expensive ones I have,
plus they're more powerful at 10 by 25. I can't imagine lugging around a big
pair anymore, these just fit right into my pocket.
Perhaps to the more trained eye there are differences in the image they
produce, but I can't imagine ever buying a big pair when these little ones
do a fine job. Mine are Tascos - I usually see them sitting on a little
stand outside camera shops about the place.

Subject: Cheapish binocular advice?
Gday All
Alas my old faithful binoculars came apart in spectacular fashion on the
weekend.... I guess I shouldn't complain, i was given them when i was 8.
Anyway now is not a particularly good time for me to be replacing them so I
am looking for something on the cheap end of the scale, up to around $200.
DOes anyone have any suggestions about brands and/or locations to purchase
them in Melbourne? I am looking for something in the 8*40 - 10*50 range.
Much Appreciated!
Cheers
Tim
