Hi Folks,

yesterday (29.10.02) there was 1 Pectoral Sandpiper at Mason Park. At least
70 plus Sharp-tails including many beautiful juveniles and 30 Curlew Sands,
1 Red-necked Stint and 6 Pacific Golden Plovers. Plenty of Black-winged
Stilts, Red-kneed and Black-fronted Dotterels.

At the Waterbird Refuge 3 Bar-tailed Godwits. No sign of the Ruff although
there are a couple of nice photos of it in the hide taken by Phil Straw.

Today at Penrhyn Road, Port Botany at high tide going out (6pm) plenty of
birds. Red-necked Stint (70), Red-capped Plover (4),Curlew Sand (25),
Sharp-tailed Sand (15), Red Knot (10), Pacific Golden Plover (8), Bar-tailed
Godwit (150 plus). More unusual were at least 25 Whiskered Terns including a
juvenile moulting into first summer? plumage. Also at least 5 Little Terns
including two flagged adults.

Enjoy it while you can

Dion
