Hello all,

a lot of people reacted to me because of a part of my tripreport: the dead
kangaroos.
What I meant to say was that thousands of roadkill kangaroos(and dozens of
Wedge-tailed Eagles) are not a pretty sight.
I find it hard to believe that all the Wedge-tailed Eagles are killed simply
because a collision was unavoidable, but I could be wrong here.
What I didn't mean to say was that every driver in the outback(or somewhere
else) likes killing kangaroos, nor that everyone who has ever hit a kangaroo
enjoyed the experience. However we actually did speak to several drivers who
told us they didn't really care about hitting a kangaroo, other than the
damage this might cause to their car.
I do understand that this has no implications for the kangaroopopulation,
and I also understand the distances in Australia are huge, so driving at
night can be a necessity, but if you drive at night at a speed of over 110
km/h, you know you probably will hit a kangaroo.
Again, the point I meant to make in the tripreport is the fact that we were
unpleasantly surprised by the enourmous numbers of dead kangaroos, not that
Australians like hitting kangaroos at night.
I hope this clarifies my point.

Greetings,
