A Baillon's Crake was visible at very close range at Westgate Park (just
north of the Westgate Bridge on the city side of the river) Saturday
afternoon. Best views were from the wooden viewing platform at the
north-east corner of the freshwater lake. The crake was feeding in
the water and on the weed amongst the reeds to the north of the viewing
platform, ie looking in the direction of the HWT building. There were also excellent views of both Clamorous Reed Warblers and Little Grassbirds from the same vantage point. Richard Nowotny ********************** |
