Hi All,

There is another chance to get your hands dirty for a good cause coming up
with the Capertee Valley tree planting weekend on 10-11 August. There are
5000 trees and shrubs ready to be planted on two adjoining properties in
the north-western section of the valley. This site has lovely alluvial soil
so planting will be relatively easy here. So far we have about 100
volunteers registered but.... the more the merrier and anyone else who
would like to help will be more than welcome! It's a perfect opportunity to
participate in a very successful community based project aimed at restoring
breeding habitat for the endangered Regent Honeyeater as well as a host of
other declining woodland birds.

Anyone who would like to help can either come over just for the Saturday or
stay for the weekend. Accommodation options include a bed in a cottage ($20
a night) or camping at Glen Davis (the free option). The ever-popular
dinner is being put on at the Glen Alice hall on Saturday night (cost $25).
This is always a great social event, but you need to book.

As David Geering is in the field this week, anyone who is interested can
contact me by return email or phone (02) 4782 1831, or contact David early
next week (not after Wednesday) on Freecall 1800 621056 or email

For anyone who decides at the last minute to turn up I have included
David's directions to the planting site below. (Note that you will not find
this site without the directions!) Bring tools such as a mattock if you
can. We are starting at 8am. Hope to see you there!

Cheers

Carol

DIRECTIONS TO THE PLANTING SITE (BRYMAIR)

There are several ways of getting to Brymair.

If coming from Rylstone take the Glen Alice Road from the Hospital. Noola
Road is about 20 kilometres (exact distance not known) from Rylstone on the
left.

If coming from the south you can either:

Take the Glen Davis turn at Capertee just past the Shell Service Station.
You will cross the Capertee River after about 30 kilometres. Turn left
towards Glen Alice and Rylstone. Go through Glen Alice back onto the dirt
road and then onto the bitumen. Look for Noola Road on the right. Turn
into Noola Road. Brymair Road is on the left 3.6 kilometres along Noola
Road, one kilometre beyond the end of the bitumen. 600 metres along
Brymair Road go through the gate labeled "Brymair". Keep on the track (do
not take the track on the right) and through the gate after 700 metres.

Or

Go through Capertee to Ilford. Beyond Ilford take the Kandos turn. At
Kandos turn left and then right at the Mobil Service Station and Motel into
Fleming Street. After 1.5 kilometres turn left into Dabee Street and head
out of town. After about four kilometres turn right onto the Rylstone -
Glen Alice Road. Noola Road is about 10-15 kilometres on the left.
