Hi folks.

I think this has been a bit of a miss quote.  the situation is that during
the 1920-1960s and even into the 70s huge amounts of fat, offal was pumped
out of the abattoirs into the ocean.  If I remember it correctly it was
released off Malabar.  This lead to great congregations of sea birds from
all over place and indeed was responsible for migration paths that are no
longer seen.

Anyway there is a lot of material dedicated to this in Tim low's new book "
the new nature" its worth a read.
