The Northern Shoveler at Ash Island in the Hunter Estury was still
present on Wednesday afternoon. Dion Hobcroft and I watched it from 1630
to 1700. The bird is on Railway Pond, where it was originally seen and
again seen by Alan Morris and Robert Quinlan this morning. We had
excellent views in both binoculars and telescope. In full sun it is a
most handsome animal.
