Hi All,

Today was another gorgeous but dry Sydney day, it was warm, still and sunny
when I set off for South Creek on Narrabeen Lagoon. On arrival there were
about 100 Little Black Cormorants plus a few Greats and Little Pied on the
South Creek sandbar. This is the largest number of Little Blacks I have seen
on the lagoon. Cruising around in a sheltered bay were 22 Hoary-headed
Grebe, it was just over a year I saw my first Hoary-headed on the N/B. These
birds must be drought driven! While I was walking through the forest area a
Osprey circled overhead causing much consternation amongst the cockies and
wow!! a Lewin's Rail ran across the track about 3 or 4 metres in front of me
as I was returning to my car.

Also seen were several Fuscous honeyeaters feeding on lerp in Bangalays.
What's all the excitement about Fuscous H/es you might ask? well, these just
happened to be my 140th species for the lagoon.

Birding beats working any day, Bruce.
