Morning all, happy lunchtime. Tick.
I've just been out to see the Franklin's Gull found yesterday by Colin Clark
and confirmed by John Cox at Salisbury Downs Oval (34 46 30s 138 37 30 e.)
in South Aust, just north of Adelaide.
About 8 of us there this morning at 7.20 to see the bird in full breeding
(maybe beginning to moult on the nape) plumage in association with a flock
of Silver Gulls. All birds seemed to be feeding from insects/bugs on the
grassy oval, very actively working the ground.
Four of us then went on to Tolderol Game Reserve to see whether we could
relocate the Little Stint reported over the weekend by Colin Rogers, but
although Colin took us to the exact spot we had no luck. We did however
find upward of twenty or so Elegant Parrots which made the visit worthwhile.
