16 June
3 Australasian Bitterns were seen on the regular survey on
the south side of the Edithvale Wetlands by Mike Carter.
15 June
At the Werribee Treatment Plant the Freckled Ducks were
seen on Lake Borrie, from Beach Road and lots of Banded Stilts mostly in
adult plumage, were highlights, thanks Jack Krohn.
10 June
A Double-banded Plover was seen at the Kerang Sewerage
Ponds, thanks Greg Oakley.
9 June
Approx 15-20 Diamond Firetails feeding with Peaceful
Doves and Red-rumped Parrots about 20kms East of Koondrook on
the Murray River, thanks Greg Oakley.
9 June
A Spotted Quail-thrush was seen in forest just north of
Newstead in central Victoria, thanks John Alexander.
7 June
Several waves of White-throated Needletails, amounting to
perhaps 30-40 birds, seen over Glen Iris, flying high and circling in windy
conditions, but generally progressing from west to east, thanks Jack Krohn.
2 June
Highlights of the Port Fairy Pelagic this month include around 800
Prion species, including more than 1 Antarctic Prion, more than 4
Slender-billed Prions, a full adult Salvin’s Albatross, 3
Grey-backed Storm-Petrel and 3 Great (Brown) Skua, thanks Mike
Carter.
2 June
A flock of about 40 Crested Pigeons were feeding on the
ground at Karkarook Park, Heatherton, thanks Tony Trood.
2 June
A Spotless Crake was seen at Albert Park on the outer edge
of the reed-beds at the north-western end of the Lake, roughly opposite the
swimming centre, thanks Hugo Phillips.
Updates
The
four Brolga were still present at Reedy Lake, Lake Connewarre (Lake
Moolap Rd entrance) on the 9th of June, thanks Tim Dolby.
At
Lake Lorne the number of Freckled Duck has increased from 30 to
approximately 100 birds! On the 9th
of June they were near the main road and were very easy to see, thanks Time

The
Buff-banded Rail was in the small rush area just east of the St. Kilda
St. bridge over the Elster Creek/Elwood Canal (Melways 67 D4) on the 20th of
May, thanks Michael Norris
