Hi Barry, I had a similar experience with a Jacky Winter recently. He was in a tree at a friends house and he allowed us to observe him from only a few feet away. I dared to go closer and managed to gently stroke his breast for quite a while. He eventually flew off to a nearby tree. We wondered if he was sick, or perhaps even a pet but he appeared perfectly healthy and was well groomed and looked in good condition. Perhaps he was just friendly towards a bunch of bird-friendly people :-) Anybody else had a similar experience? Cheers, David Cameron Hamilton |
