Leucistic Pink-eared Duck at Mount Isa

G'day all,

Yesterday I observed an leucistic Pink-eared Duck at the Sewage Ponds.

It was a dirty white all over except for the "ears" which were a faded pink.

Thus it cannot be called an "albino".

It was feeding with perhaps a 1000 other P-e D .. all mulling around in groups of up to 8 feeding in each other's wake.

My search of the Birding-Aus archives http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/birding-aus/ did not return any reports of albino or leucistic Ducks.

How rare are they ?
