Today visited the Lockyer Valley, and had excellent close view of the
solitary Banded Stilt that is still present at Lake Clarendon. It was nice
to have a Red-necked Avocet, a Banded Stilt and a Black-winged Stilt all
together in the field of view for comparison. The Banded Stilt was feeding
close to the shoreline, before taking flight across the lake.
At the lake in the grounds of the Gatton Agricultural College there were
hundreds of Pied Geese and many many hundreds of Plumed Whistling Ducks and
Pink-eared Ducks. A single Black Tailed Native Hen was nice to see there as
well.
At the lagoon opposite Atkinsons Dam we couldnt see the Freckled Ducks seen
recently, but a pair of Cotton Pygmy Geese were in amongst countless Pacific
Black Ducks.
cheers,
David Taylor
