Hi Everyone,

In 2002 the 25-26 May National Count Day for Swift Parrots and Regent Honyeaters appears to have been successful for the Central Coast of NSW (Gosford, Wyong and the southern part of Lake Macquarioe LGA's) as we did find plenty of Swift Parrots and some Regent Honeyeaters. The weekend was a stinker, with very heavy rain falling much of Saturday, early morning showers on Sunday morning and the remainder of the day being fairly bleak. Some people did some of their surveys a day or two early while others waited until to day. Preliminary results from the 30 or so participants are not all in but results so far are as follows:

Swift Parrots mostly 25/5/02
200+ around Murray Street, Bateau Bay in about a 400m radius  (Alan & Tim Morris)
20+  Sutton Reserve & nearby Wyrrabalong NP at Bateau Bay (Ern Dunkley & Joan Adams)
5+    Wyrrabalong NP/Bateau Bay North-Blue Lagoon (Alan Morris)
70+  Keats Ave Bateau Bay South (Bruce Hulbert)
10+  Carrack Res Kincumber (Robert Quinan)
20+  Ettymalong Ck Umina (Debbie Andrew et al)

23/5/02
2  Church Rd Reserve, Tuggerah (Alan Morris)

27/5/02
35+  Budgewoi Shopping Centre cnr Scenic Rd & Alawai St (Tim & Alan Morris)

Regent Honeyeaters
11-15  Wyee Point (Don & Val Moon)
3+  Galgaba Res South Swansea  (Alan & Tim Morris) seen on 27/5/02
None of the Regents were colour-banded!

Many thanks to all the people who carried out the surveys!
