I totally agree with Keith about the cats, it is something that I have
stated for years.
Corvids seem to take golf balls everywhere, I was involved in setting up a
vineyard a couple of years ago and every day golf balls would turn up in the
paddock, and "as the crow flies" it was 3km from the golf course, I have
seen them turn up at other places as well, only two days ago I went to Berri
Sewage ponds, which is opposite the golf course, but too far for any golfer
to hit a ball, and one was lying there. SAOA have had Xmas campouts at
Balmoral Vic. a couple of years and that is also near a golf course, we
often found golf balls in the scrub.
A few weeks ago I was kayaking with a friend and we were at least 100m away
from a darters nest, and deliberately giving it a wide berth, the female
left the nest and immediately a pair of Ozzy Ravens moved in and took two
eggs, seeing them flying off with a large white egg in their beak reminded
me, at the time, of what a corvid must look like with agolf ball in it's
mouth.
