Good day
I have been a member on your list since January. I'm glad
I joined the list, it helps me prepare for my trip to Australia.
I will visit Australia for a month in October-November of this year. Since
there is no way I can cover this great country in a month, I chose the
Queensland as the region to visit. I want to cover as many habitat as I can
and this region seems to fill the need.
The travel agency suggested the following itinerary and I wish to run it by
you to see if it makes good sense : Brisbane, then west to Morven, and up to
Longreach, then east to Rockhampton and up to Cairns and Daintree. Here is
some questions I have :
- Since I absolutly want to spend a couple of days in the Outback, should I
go from Brisbane or from Townsville ? I have a hard time to figure this one
out. Places to bird in the Outback is hard to find on the web. Any help from
you would be more than welcome.
- My friend and I are also wondering if we should do this trip from North to
South or from South to North. We are arriving in Australia on October 20th.
Since it will be spring and the weather will be warming up, we wonder if it
would be better to start from the North in terms of maximizing the number of
bird species we will see.
These are the first few questions we have. I'm sure we will have more as we
complete our itinerary.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions you might have. We look forward to
encounter some of you during our trip to Australia.
