Western District birds

A number of birds usually found further inland have been turning up in the
Western Plains of Victoria after the prolonged spell of dry and sunny
weather.
One small roadside tree plantation one km south-west of Lismore has had the
following birds during the past week:

        Budgerigars (up to six)
        Zebra Finch (two)
        Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters (15-20)
        Swift Parrot (9)

There have been a number of sightings of Black Kite and of Black Falcon
(seven birds seen over a field of burning stubble);  also a pair of
White-winged Trillers well out of season.  There have been reports of
streams of Red Wattlebirds flying south.
Unfortunately there seem to be fewer Flame Robins than in previous seasons.
