Hi there birders,
Its that time of the year again when Swift Parrots start showing up on the mainland and my job as the Swift Parrot Project Officer gets into full swing, so I am keen to hear from anyone who sees Swifties.  There have been a few records to date including some 'summer' Swifties in southern Victoria (as previously reported on Birding-Aus) and more recently some near Batemans Bay on the south coast of NSW amongst flowering Bloodwoods.  The word from the central coast region of NSW is that it is going to be a big year for Swamp Mahogany flowering so no doubt there will be plenty of good birds around this area for everyone to see.  If anyone knows of any other areas with trees currently flowering or that will flower in the next few months, I would really appreciate hearing from you so that I can organise for these sites to be monitored for any Swiftie activity.  Thanks very much, and I look forward to being in touch with all of the Swift Parrot volunteers again soon for the upcoming survey weekends (25/26 May and 3/4 August).  Happy birding!
cheers
Debbie
