Hi all In a recent illawarra bird club discussion, the occasional aggregation of Channel-billed Cuckoos in the Illawarra region (south of Sydney) was discussed. We have records of up to 12 cuckoos being observed flying together and/or feeding in fig trees, though it is much more usual to observe 1-3 birds. There is also one record of 20 birds feeding in a fig tree at Milton. The larger aggregations seem to occur in October, when the birds arrive in the region and again in February-March before they leave. So, are aggregations of up to 12 birds unusual elsewhere in the country? cheers Chris Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
